Voting by mail in Wyoming

Yes. Anyone can request a mail ballot. Any registered voter can request a mail (absentee) ballot, no reason needed. There's a deadline, so request early. Ballots are mailed from 28 days out (Oct. 6). The state warns in-county mail can take up to 7 days.

Without one: Voter may vote a provisional ballot after signing the oath (W.S. 22-2-119, 22-15-105) and must present documentation of eligibility to the county clerk by close of business the day after the election; the provisional ballot is counted only after that documentation is presented.
Return ruleReceived by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Who can return it for youThe official source doesn't say whether someone else may carry it; ask your county. Neither the SOS page nor the statute says who may deliver the sealed ballot: it must be 'mailed or delivered to the clerk' by 7 p.m. Election Day, with no limit stated. Drop boxes vary by county.

Steps

  1. Request your ballot now. Don't wait for the deadline.
  2. Confirm your registration and mailing address while you're at it.
  3. When it arrives, fill it out in blue or black ink and sign the envelope.
  4. Return it by drop box or in person if you can. Mail it at least a week early if not.
  5. Track it on your state's tracker until it shows received.

Don't get rejected

  • Sign the envelope. An unsigned envelope is the most common fixable mistake.
  • Use the secrecy sleeve if one is included, then the return envelope. Don't tape anything.
  • Keep the phone and email on your registration current. If there's a problem, that's how they reach you to fix it.
